Knitted family

For celebrating our 2 years of being together I made a surprise for my little family and took them to the Botanical Garden for a lovely photoshoot. In these pictures we are all wearing my handmade. 3 sweaters and one babyhat. As it seems, it all makes a knitted family :)

Tähistamaks meie koosoldud kahte aastat tegin oma väiksele perele üllatuse ja viisin nad Botaanikaaeda armsale fotosessioonile. Neil piltidel kanname kõik minu kätetööd. 3 kampsunit ja üks beebimüts. Nagu välja tuleb, teeb see kõik kokku ühe kootud perekonna :)

For the little one

Surprise, surprise, this time it´s not about the gloves! I untangled a sweater I knitted for myself and that warmed me previous winter and winter before that. From that really soft merino wool I knitted a sweater for my son because of a special event (more details in the next post). This yarn has an extraordinary meaning. My energy, warmth, feelings and love preserved in that sweater are now warming my baby. I have experienced something similar myself. I untangled a sweater my mother used to wear many years and knitted some socks for myself and some of the yarn is still left. Every time I see or touch that yarn I remember generously my mother. Through this it is possible to experience kind of physical closeness. I have not experimented yet, how many times of untangling and becoming a new thing one yarn can handle, but for sure, the second circle is still good enough :) This kind of approach certainly pleases all eco-friends. It is really a good feeling to give an old item new energy, usage and meaning and thereby feel your little contribution in protecting the nature.
I also knitted the hat specially and finished it about half an hour before the photoshoot...

Üllatus, üllatus, seekord ei olegi teemaks kindad! Harutasin lahti ühe endale kootud kampsuni, mis mind eelmisel ja üleeelmisel talvel soojendanud oli. Ja sellest imepehmest meriinovillast kudusin oma pojale ühe tähtsa sündmuse puhul (lähemalt järgmises postituses) mõnusa kampsuni. Sellisel lõngal on erakordne tähendus. Minu energia, talletunud soojus, tunded ja armastus soojendavad nüüd minu lapsukest. Olen ise sedasama kogenud. Harutasin lahti ühe kampsuni, mida minu ema aastaid kandis, kudusin endale sellest sokid ja nii mõnigi lõngakera on veel alles. Iga kord kui seda lõnga näen või katsun, meenutan heldelt ema. Läbi selle on võimalik tunda justkui füüsilist lähedust. Pole veel katsetanud, mitut ülesharutamist ja uut eset üks lõng on võimeline välja kannatama, aga teise ringi värk on kindlasti veel bueno :) Sedasorti lähenemine rõõmustab ka kõiki ökosõpru. Tõesti mõnus tunne on anda vanale esemele uus energia, kasutusviis ja tähendus ning sealjuures tunda oma väikest panust looduse hoidmisel.  

Ka mütsi kudusin spetsiaalselt ja lõpetasin umbes pool tundi enne fotosessiooni algust...

Wood & wool

I'm not the type of a knitter from an ordinary story -  "my grandmother was a knitter, my mother was a knitter, they teached me well and now I knit". I am different. Learned the basics of  knitting at school handicraft lesson and started to love knitting from that moment on. But most of the knowledge about knitting I have gained by experimenting hundreds of times, knitting and untangling, starting over and over again. Lots of times I have thought, that´s it, I am no knitter, nothing good comes through my hands and then, after a week or so, starting again with the biggest eagerness ever.

And so were these natural gloves born. Made from alpaca wool, decorated with wooden buttons. It´s like carrying some nature alongside wherever you go. What a homely and aboriginal feeling!
And of course, after finishing these gloves I realised I should have done them differently. But not so differently they should earn untangling :) But the next ones are coming!

Mina ei ole sedasorti kuduja, nagu tavaliselt juhtub - "juba minu vanaema kudus, minu ema kudus, nad olid mulle suureks eeskujuks, õpetasid mulle kudumist ja nüüd olen ka mina kuduja." Minu lugu on teistsugune. Õppisin kudumise algtõed selgeks kooli käsitöötunnis ja hakkasin sellest hetkest peale kudumist meeletult armastama. Kuid enamus minu kudumisoskusest on omandatud suure eksperimenteerimise käigus. Koon, harutan lahti, alustan kõike otsast peale ja nii sadu kordi... Tihti olen mõelnud, et aitab, ma ei koo enam kunagi, sest see ei tule mul üldse välja. Aga umbes nädala pärast alustan uuesti, suurema õhinaga kui eales varem.

Ja nii sündisid ka need naturaalsed kindad. Tehtud alpaka villast ja kaunistatud puunööpidega. Nagu kannaks loodust kaasas igal pool kuhu jalad viivad. Milline kodune ja samas ürgne tunne!
Muidugi, peale nende kinnaste valmis saamist mõtlesin, et oleks pidanud need hoopis teisiti tegema. Aga vähemalt mitte nii palju teisiti, et nad oleks väärinud lahtiharutamist :). Aga järgmised on kindlasti tulemas!

First frosts

Be ready for the first frosts, because... winter is coming.

The new beginning

For long have I been figuring in my mind how to connect work and hobby and share more love in this world. I ran into a perfect quote - "You can't buy love, but you can buy handmade and that's kind of the same thing." From that I gained certainty that the thing I love most can be shared with others and therefore other people can receive some of the passion and love through my work by wearing it or making a present to someone special. 

My name "Knitted (g)love" was born from that quote. I knit gloves and I also knit love :)
Soon coming up a post of the new glove desing for this season.

Olen päris kaua pead murdnud selle üle, kuidas ühendada hobi ja töö ning ka jagada rohkem armastust siin maamuna peal. Ja siis sattusin ideaalse tsitaadi peale - "Armastust ei saa osta, kuid saab osta käsitööd, mis teeb põhimõtteliselt sama välja." Ja sellest kasvas kindlus, et seda, mida ma kõige rohkem armastan teha, saabki teistega jagada. Kandes minu tehtud asju või kinkides kellelegi teisele, saavad inimesed osa sellest armastusest ja õhinast, mida olen kudunud. 
Minu nimi "Knitted (g)love" sündiski sellest tsitaadist. Koon kindaid ja koon ka armastust :)
Varsti tulemas postitus selle sügise esimesest kindadisainist.
